Episode 426 – Carpenters, Gardeners, and Animal Behavior

This week’s podcast was inspired by Alison Gopnik’s book, The Gardener and the Carpenter: What the New Science of Child Development Tells Us about the Relationship between Parents and Children, because many of the changes she describes in the relationship are similar to those that occur between people and their companion animals. Especially dogs. What used to come so naturally to so many now may become a source of anxiety. And as we know, stressing the parental figure doesn’t bode well for the young either.
